Hi, my name is Mike and I have just recently retired and taken up the pastime of a "Grey Nomad". My rig is a 2008 Kia Sorento CRDI towing a Jayco Penguin.
I travel solo because I don't have a partner and I have sold up and will be travelling permanently until I fall off the perch.
My first trip will start on Dec. 13 and will take me from Perth, where I have lived since 1984 (I'm a Croweater originally) to Brisbane via Kalgoorlie, Laverton, Warburton, Docker River, Uluru, Finke, Chamber's Pillar, Alice Springs, Hart's Range, Tobermorey, Boulia, Bedourie, Thargominda and Goondawindi. This will be a fairly quick trip, as I have a destination and purpose, to visit with my brother and his family in Brisbane.
After that I want to travel down the coast to Melbourne and then across to Tassie to visit my other brother and his family, then spend about 6 weeks or so cruising through Tassie.
After that, no firm plans, just wherever the desire takes me, possibly up to the Gulf of Carpentaria then the Kimberley for the Dry.
I will keep a diary of my travels and an itinerary of my destinations. I would love to make contact with other GN's and where our destinations are the same, we could perhaps travel together as long as the other person wants to really take their time and see everything.
If you come across this blog, drop a line and say g'day.
Mike
